Marrakesh & Surroundings

Morocco is a wonderful place to visit and enjoy in so many ways. Good food, great shopping as well as interesting and beautiful places to visit.

Medina

This is the heart of the old city, and home to the souk and Jemaa el-Fna square. You’ll find yourself lost in winding alleyways with rows of nondescript doors that open into bright courtyards, stalls filled with leather, sandals, rugs and patterned tableware, and wall to wall people and motorbikes at all hours. This is where you’ll find most of Marrakesh's charm. You’ll find loads of character and history, but that comes with an extra dose of noise, traffic and chaos.

Gueliz and Hivernage

These are the more modern parts of the city, and where you’ll find most of Marrakesh’s nightlife and food scene. You’ll find bigger and more recognised hotels, food and shopping chains, and abundant taxis waiting on the streets. What it lacks in charm it makes up for in convenience.
Take a tour of the Medina and the Souk by yourself or with a tour guide and eat lunch after in a modern restaurant in Gueliz (or in the Souk itself).

Outside Marrakesh

From the city center you can head south towards the Atlas Mountains or north into the Palmeraie and you quickly leave the hustle and bustle behind you. This is where you’ll find most private luxury resorts and spas, usually on sprawling grounds with pools, palm trees, day spas, and golf courses. At Villa Shiraz you’re completely removed from the bustling of the city, but still have access to the city (15-30 min drive we can provide).

Jardin Majorelle

Enjoy a visit to a hammam and spa, Jardin Majorelle and the new Yves Saint Laurent museum, take a camel ride and spend the night at a camp in the desert.

Visit Essouira

A trip to the quaint seaside town of Essouira with the opportunity to visit an Argan oil cooperative of women is a must if you have a day extra.

Visit The Atlas Mountains

A one day hike up the Atlas mountains with lunch on the terrace of one of the Berber villager’s houses is a delight.
